Q: What can adding RAM do for my computer?
A: Adding more random access memory can boost your PC’s performance by
allowing you to have more applic- ations open at the same time and by speeding
up certain computing functions. Because it costs less to add RAM than it does to
buy a new computer, the easiest thing to do is to upgrade memory in order to get
more power from their PC’s.
Q: When should I clean my mouse and how is it done?
A: If you are experiencing erratic cursor behavior such as it jumping all
over the screen instead of where you are trying to place it, chances are good
that the mouse ball has picked up lint, dust or other junk that has built up on
the rollers inside. With power off to your computer, turn your mouse over and
remove the faceplate surrounding the rubber ball, usually by a clockwise turn
using your thumb nail and second-finger nail. Remove the ball and inspect the
two rollers and wheel for build up. You can use a straightened paper clip to
scrape the junk off, turning the roller as you scrape. You can wash the ball
with soapy water, but be sure it is dry before reassembly. You can also use a Q-Tip and isopropyl alcohol for this cleaning
process.
